Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year!

Dear readers,

I am excited for the new school year to begin. I have spent the summer thinking of how each new school year offers a blank canvas of possibility, an empty stage of opportunity, or a quiet athletic field of promise.

As we all know from experience, though, the hopes often do not live up to the outcomes.  But when we try hard and experience a little struggle, we begin truly to understand something and improve overall from the challenge. This type of learning, I believe, is what middle school education is all about.  Budding adolescents need to take part in the process of an education.

In the attached article from huffingtonpost.com, (The Truth about Middle Schoolers) you will read about middle school “truths.” While there may be some good debate about such “truths,” I believe that #9 (Don’t peak in middle school) has some merit.  Students should continue to see that what happens in middle school is part of an ongoing painting, musical, or athletic contest.

I wish all our middle-school students and families the very best to a new school year.

My best,

Mr. Keller
